Titan is the fifth largest integrated own brand watch manufacturer in the world.
Project Brief
With the growing importance of fitness and health across the globe, Titan was looking to launch its fitness band ‘SF Rush’ to help individuals, (primarily 15-30 years of age) to track their activity and sleep patterns. Users would be able to do this via a mobile application which would connect to the fitness band to achieve this. Being aware of the strong competition in this segment, the core challenge defined was to design for stickiness and to form a lasting habit amongst users.
Target Audience
A. Motivated & Want to stay fit
These users do not need much to push them. They will adopt a process which is accurate and has a strong value addition.
B. Want to stay fit but lack motivation
These users will be early adopters and promoters. The system needs to be designed to keep them interested and motivated.
Solution : Gamification & Human Connection
Leverage the power of gamification to help users achieve their fitness goals and create stickiness. By allowing them to compete with friends and strangers across the country, it would help unmotivated users to push harder. Badges & points will be awarded to users along with ranking. Social media integration into the same would allow users to celebrate their achievements as well.

Why Human Connections?
Humans by nature are known to be social. We tend to need validation and connection to feel content and excited. This is why most users who successfully stay fit are in some way involved in group activities or surrounded by people who tend to try and be fit as well. Using this real time validation and extending it onto the application seemed like a great fit to build stickiness and a lifestyle. This would help connect users to the external world with their SF app experience.

Users can create Private groups to challenge each other. This helps
motivate them to maintain an active lifestyle.
Catch the Leader
Challenge boards help keep track of where users stand against their competition.
Users can see how much more they need to push themselves to beat the leader.
Track Activity
Users can track their daily sleep and fitness patterns.
They can even do a week on week or month on month comparison.
Set goals
Users can set goals for themselves. The app will help you reach these
goals via nudges and reminders.

This project had an extremely demanding timeline which needed to be met. Working under such conditions meant some important assumptions had to be made and validated quickly. While I didn’t compromise on important steps such as wireframing and quick dirty usability testing, I do feel some more in depth understanding of user motivations and competitive analysis would improve the MVP features that were eventually rolled out.
